Quakes Take on Austin at Home
San Jose Earthquakes finished their regular season at PayPal Park in October with a 2–1 win over Austin FC. Austin took the lead in the first half when Owen Wolff scored around the 22nd minute. San Jose answered in the second half, first with a header from Josef Martínez to level the score, and then with Niko Tsakiris scoring his first MLS goal from a free kick just minutes later to put the Quakes ahead. San Jose controlled much of the match and outshot Austin, but the late win wasn’t quite enough for the team to reach the MLS Cup playoffs due to tiebreakers.
